1. What's your breaking point?
Everyone has a breaking point. You know, the point at which we have to sit down, throw in the proverbial (and often temporary) white towel and say to hell with it ... for now.
2. A public plea for pubic styling
Showtime Network's "Californication" brought up a tantalizing personal preening issue a couple of episodes ago. Season five, episode three examines the disappearance of pubic hair from younger generational nether regions. Yes, a full plume of pubic hair has become a thing of the past, like VHS tapes and home phones. But what happened to the hairway to heaven?
3. Stay awesome (and safe), Milwaukee
In honor of Bar Month on OnMilwaukee.com, I wanted you to remember how awesome Milwaukee really is, in moderation.
4. A happy secret worth sharing
This TEDxBloomington post from Shawn Achor is worth a watch. His tips on happiness and appreciation are simple and easy to implement.
5. Hey there fatty, part 2: Getting the bitterness out
When one is a fatty and is stuck in a routine of inactivity and excessive eating, breaking out of that routine and into one that features healthier food options and repetitive movements is akin to Kim Kardashian's desire for marriage. Embarking on a journey like this has led me to have a case of the grumpys, and I decided that I need to expel that negative energy before I derail myself and house four bacon double cheeseburgers with extra cheese from Burger King.
6. Is it cold enough for you?
Absolutely not. Not by a long shot. In fact, except for a brief stretch earlier in the month where my car's thermometer told me it was 2 degrees outside, the cold weather this winter has barely bothered me at all. Even then, I managed to get through that snap pretty easily.

7. Gyms are icky
As January comes to a close, I've got one more fitness-themed blog for you. Hopefully, your resolution is still holding steady. If you've been stealthy, you have most likely established a new habit - so, congrats! Whatever you resolved for 2012 - keep it up and make it happen.
8. Up for grabs: $50 Summerfest gift card
Today, OnMilwaukee.com is giving away a $50 Summerfest gift card as part of the "12 Days of 2012" promotion.
9. Hey there fatty, part 1: The introduction
Nobody has ever walked up to me and asked, "JC Poppe, why are you fat?" but thanks to the suggestion of one of my editors, I'm going to tell you why.
10. Are snow blowers worth the money?
So I decided I would buy a snow blower. And so I went to a few stores that sell snow blower. And I froze with sticker shock.

11. A change of course
I had all of these fitness resolution blogs planned for the month of January, but a repeated message from the universe is making my fingers redirect their path across the landscape of my keyboard.
12. How I shook up my breakfast routine
We all have our routine in the morning. I have a new one that's working pretty well and also tastes great.
13. Win a $50 gift card to local restaurants, Summerfest and more
It's day 3 of the "!2 Days of 2012" promotion and you could win a $50 gift card to Cubanita's / COA.

14. Moore's statement on Dr. King
Today, Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4) joined the nation in commemorating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She released this statement.
15. Get your feet naked
Winter running is pushing its way into my tropical island weather-loving gait. And though the gear gets more abundant, my shoe has gotten more minimal thanks to VIVOBAREFOOT Lucy Lites.
16. The little things (January 2012 edition)
Last night, I rushed home from work, bought some fresh oil and gas and attempted to start my snowblower for the first time in nine months. I held my breath and gave the cord a pull. Nothing. I tried again, then again, then again. Calmly, I pushed the choke button three times, then paused. One more pull, and it sprang to life.
17. Jobs, jobs, jobs
What's the real picture on joblessness in Milwaukee? At a conference I attended this past weekend titled OneMilwaukee and sponsored by the NAACP, Mayor Tom Barrett estimated that there are 30,000 people out of work presently and up to 20,000 jobs lost in the city since 2007. He went on to describe the dilemma he faces as mayor.
18. MetroEXpress, route changes coming to MCTS
The Milwaukee Country Transit System will introduce MetroEXpress bus service, add two local routes and make changes to seven others starting Sunday, Jan. 29.
19. Some things change; others, not so much
If you've followed me on Twitter or have read any of my previous posts, you already know the love-hate relationship I have with Facebook's functionality, its intentional and dedicated stalker mechanisms, and its screwed up merry-go-round of privacy issues that never seem to be fully addressed.
20. Insomniblog: Things I don't understand
Up until college, I slept like a baby at night. Since then, I haven't been such a good sleeper. Often, I find myself lying in bed for hours, thoughts whirling through my mind. Recapping the day, planning the next day, or lately, trying to solve the mysteries of the universe.
21. Milwaukee Public Library expands branch hours
The Milwaukee Public Library system is increasing its service hours for 2012.
22. Taking the polar bear plunge, one day late
Monday, the day after the polar bear plunge, one lonely figure was out in waist deep water, wearing a wetsuit and using one of those machines that people use to search for coins and metal in the sand.
23. This new year take "18 Minutes" to get organized
"18 Minutes" is the perfect read for this time of the year, so I thought I'd share it with you.
24. Score! I'm a water winner
I haven't won the lottery. Hell, I rarely ever win a raffle. But, thanks to a friend at Marquette University, I found h2oscore.com, a site that allows homeowners to see how much water they consume and how the usage compares to similar households. And in my house, we're kicking butt and taking names.
25. 2012 trend predictions
I've been waving my manicured, trend-hungry hands over my crystal ball for what's going to be hot (or not) in 2012. If you care about being "on trend" or being a "girl on campus," as one of my dear buddies likes to call the "in-crowd" who unabashedly takes advantage of what's in style - often all at once. And if you don't give a flying fad or - better yet, like to go against the grain and rock skinny jeans when bell-bottoms are "in" - then this may be for you too.
