Kids' birthday party guide, 2011

Having your child's birthday party at home has its advantages. It's usually less expensive and provides an intimate environment. However, most kids eventually want to have their birthday party at a locale other than their own backyard. That's where this guide comes in handy.
Whether your kid is more bouncy or craft-oriented, there's a Brew City birthday party that can accommodate his / her wishes. The beauty of the away-from-home birthday party is that you don't have to clean up after the festivities.
Here's a list of Milwaukee businesses that offer birthday parties, and feel free to add your own via the Talkback feature.

I came here looking for ideas for my son's birthday. We decided to have the party at our house, and ended up contacting Great Scott the magician. He was fantastic with the kids. They were laughing and had a great time. They especially loved the puppet and balloons. Actually, I loved the show just as much, and recommend him highly. My son and his friends have been talking about the 'cool' magic tricks for the past week. He really was a hit.

Thank you for the kind words, Mary. It is well informed parents, that plan their children's events out in advance, that make it fun to perform and a successful event. In your case, I had heard from you that you had spoken to several performers, checked out our websites, compared us side to side and most importantly gave ample notice in advance to avoid last minute bookings (and had a flexible schedule in case the choice date did not work out.) There unfortunately are some performers who lack a reliable performance history, liability insurance and are just not suited for family friendly events. It is hard to know who to choose (or what activity to choose) for your event. I know often I get calls to do balloons for a two year old's birthday party (where a majority of the children in attendance are 2 and 3 years old) where parents don't even give a thought to balloons being possible choking hazard for that age. There are other events in the middle of summer where people want you directly in the sun during heat of the day and I have to inform them of increased popping unless the event can be moved inside or under a shaded area, where other performers have failed to mention the possibility of this. In your case, I know you asked about 8-10 questions that showed me you did your homework. As a performer, I know we would rather have an informed and educated parent asking questions than someone who gives the performer a last minute consideration. Thanks again for the very kind words. I know Scott (from the comments here) and he does a great kid's magic show. I am sure he would probably agree with my statements about educated, informed and well planned parents as well.

We saw a balloon artist at both Mayfair Mall and Grand Avenue Mall this last year. This guy was so amazing we had him for one of our private parties. His name is Peter John Lindsay. His website is at www.HalfTwisted-HalfKnot.com and his work is totally amazing! I have never seen balloon creations like this guy makes. I am amazed party entertainers like him were not mentioned in this article.
