Social Circle: Favorite special occasion restaurant?
For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."
We might not make it to our special occasion restaurants very often, but when we do, we expect them to come through and provide the food, ambience and service to make the important evening memorable.
Milwaukee, it seems, is loaded with establishments able to make the magic happen, and this week's group of Social Circle participants were quick to share where they go for a birthday, engagement, anniversary or any other event that deserves a celebration. The responses ranged greatly, from Sanford to Conejito's.
What is your favorite special occasion place? Chime in via the Talkback feature and let us know. Then join the Social Circle for next week by liking us on Facebook or following us on Twitter.
Jon Baier: "No question about it, Sanford!"
Caroline Barrow: "La Merenda! But I also love Izumi's. Though Kyoto is my fave for a weeknight get-together with friends."
Janet Boehlke: "La Fuente. My hubby and I had our first date there and it is still our favorite place. Now we take our kids along with us."
Maggie Cain: "Osteria del Mondo."
Geoff Carter: "Maharaja."
Denise Cawley: "Mine used to be Cafe Coquette. Now I go out less often. Recently, we had an astonishing meal at Antigua. The loma soltado was sublime."
Stacy Claesges: "Sabor."
Matthew Eells: "Casabanca, The Pasta Tree."
Heidi Engel: "Lake Park Bistro. Favorite time of year: January with a snowy view, overlooking the staircase from the window."
Lori Erickson: "Sanford or Bacchus."
Roi Evans: "When I was a young(er) fool, my 'break up' spot always seemed to be Beans and Barley. It was symbolic, stupidly, because I was eliminating meat from the diet."
Russ Fascia: "Bartolotta's."
Alyssa Gonya: "Roots."
Michael T. Grace: "Louise's for Pizza, Melting Pot (because my bass player gets me hooked up), INdustri Café-Milwaukee has an amazing steak."
Amy Hanson: "Lake Park Bistro."

Dan Krass: "Always enjoy taking off work for a birthday lunch at Catarina's."
Sonia Kubica: "Lakefront Bistro."
Kate Laitinen: "We have a hard time choosing between Nessun Dorma in Riverwest, or La Merenda in Walker's Point. La Merenda is also a great place for groups! Top it off with beverages at Bryant's, and its a great date night."

Bret Spangenberg: "Sanford."
Gary Thurner, Jr.: "EE Sane."
Jessica Ulstad: "Crazy Water."
Mike Walter: "Eddie Martini's."

Not trying to be rude, but did anyone consider editing this article? So many errors...Lakefront Bistro and Cafe Coquette, really? And if it's your favorite restaurant, you should know the correct name for goodness sake.
