Cedarburg's dining landscape is ever-expanding and while you'll still find your fair share of small bar-and-grill places or classic supper clubs, new, contemporary and ethnically diverse restaurants like The Hub are popping up, especially in charming downtown.

Here is an updated account of what our neighbor to the north is bringing to the dining table. While this list doesn't cover every last eatery, it includes the newcomers as well as several perennial favorites.

Specializing in several kinds of fondue, this cozy, upscale Cedarburg nook also serves soups and salads. It's open for dinner seven days a week.

Cedarburg Family Restaurant and Pollo Loco Lounge

Though the name is similar, this locally-owned restaurant is not a part of the national chain El Pollo Loco. Done in typical "family-style," this place has it all, from steak dinner to low-carb and low-sodium choices.

Chocolate Factory Subs & Ice Cream

Located in the heart of downtown, this famous sub shop delights with specialties like croissant sandwiches, and tops off the experience with Blommer's Homemade Wisconsin Ice Cream.

Cream and Crepe Café

The tempting aromas wafting from this café, which is also located within the Cedar Creek Settlement, make it difficult to resist. Crepes are the stars here and there are many selections, all named after quilt patterns. Don't forget to leave room for the dessert varieties.

Galioto's Vintage Grille

It's all classic cuisines here, and chef Dave Galioto is especially known for his pork specials. But, the steak, chicken, veal and seafood dishes are nothing to complain about either. Closed Mondays.

Jalisco Restaurant

Morton's Wiscons Inn

Hailed as a place for drinks and some good eats by the locals, Morton's features full-service tavern dining. On the menu is such hearty cuisine as steaks, seafood and Mexican specials. Don't miss out on the famous Surf n' Turf Bloody Mary served with shrimp and kippered beef. Morton's has, "good food, good drinks and good people," says co-owner Chris Morton.

Rich's Restaurant

Friday night has this place hopping with its famous fish fry, featuring breaded cod and your choice of French fries, German potato salad or potato pancakes with cole slaw and rye bread. Vegetarians, they also have a ¼-lb. veggie burger.

Road House Bar & Grill

Formerly Barrington's, the space was transformed years ago into a more modern bar and grill serving up good bar food -- burgers, wings, chicken and, of course, beer.

Settler's Inn Restaurant & Inn

Homemade pie, anyone? It's been praised for years. But if you're looking to fill up on a real meal before getting to dessert, the deli-style sandwiches are great as are meaty selections from the grill.

The Farmstead

Housed in a charmingly rustic yet refined antique farmhouse, the Farmstead offers house specials of garlic smashed black Angus, homemade soups, steak and fish selections of the day and twists on the old and ordinary that sometimes create extraordinary dishes. Steaks, fish, ribs and chicken are cooked behind the bar over a matchbox-sized open grill for all to see and smell while waiting for a table.

The Hub

The Hub is a new addition to the neighborhood. It's a charming smoothie bar and café, featuring food that leans toward healthy but doesn't skimp on flavor. Highlights are panini sandwiches, hot dogs, soups, salads and bubble tea.

Tomaso's Italian American

Tomaso's has been serving up old-world recipes for about 30 years. It is famous for its pizza and has recently expanded its menu to include some impressive gelato.

Wayne's Drive-In

With roller-skating carhops ready to take your order, Wayne's does retro right at this classic diner. Come hungry for charbroiled burgers, salty fries and thick, creamy malts. It's all-American, all the time here. We suggest the Big Wayne Burger.
