Lakeshore State Park, located on the shores Lake Michigan along Summerfest and Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin, is getting a new south entrance to the island.

Park officials provided an update today on Facebook. As part of the construction of a new Rock Stage at Summerfest, Summerfest is "improving the turn around behind the Marcus Amphitheater, taking out the old dock and railings and moving the island access road to the east."

The result, according to the park will be a "cleaner appearance and better function for that entrance." In addition, the festival grounds will gain additional parking for buses and semis.

Access to Lakeshore State Park will be maintained during construction and the temporary road should be done in the next week or so with the entire project completed by mid-June.
